In Robert A. Heinlein’s sci-fi world, architect and professor Quintus Teal has spent over a decade designing a revolutionary tesseract house —one that maximizes vertical space, minimizes ground use, and even harnesses energy from earthquakes. However, his career has stalled, his colleagues dismiss his ideas as impossible, and he struggles to fund his ambitious project.
With a breakthrough in his research and a looming university deadline, Quintus seizes an opportunity when his wealthy friend, Homer Bailey commissions the house for his expecting wife, Matilda and their growing family. With the help of three top students, Quintus finally begins construction. However, the innovative design leads to unforeseen consequences, turning his dream project into a terrifying nightmare.
At the midpoint of the story, the students throw a house party that gets out of hand. They discover evil doppelgangers lurk throughout mysterious portals within the house, turning into mind-bending illusions that everyone must survive and attempt to escape the house.
